Lacri-Lube ocular lubricant for dry eye conditions is an eye ointment containing medicinal liquid paraffin, white soft paraffin and wool alcohols. It is used to lubricate and protect the outer surface of the eye without inducing tear production. It can also be used after surgery on the eyelids which may temporarily affect the normal reflex blink e.g. ptosis surgery, cosmetic eyelid surgery.
It can also be used as a lubricant for the use of postoperative eyelid wound massage.
This formulation is particularly useful for use last thing at bedtime as it remains in the eye longer than artificial tear drops.
- Do not use if allergic to lanolin alcohols.
- Note that the use of Lacrilube can cause some blurring of vision which may affect your ability to drive safely.
